I did it! Just
Sunday 27th Sep I had been putting off the ride until the end of the month in the hope that some of my energy and core strength would return. Fat chance. 10 miles in and I was already thinking about doing it in stages rather than a single hit. By the 20 mile mark I knew I was in trouble and headed in the direction of home so that I was at least close to be picked up when necessary. But I just kept thinking about the next mile and then the next and tried not to think about all 40 in one go. It worked and finally I got back to my road only to find I was 2 miles short. Anyone looking at my Strava will see a ball of spaghetti around my house where I cycled in circles and loops to make up the deficit. Actually managed 40.7 miles in the end. I am utterly exhausted, my legs are screaming at me but I feel very smug too! Thank you to everyone who sponsored me. It really kept me going when I felt I had nothing left. I thought of you all. It’s not too late to still chip in. Chris x Share
I need goals right now!
Sunday 6th Sep Somehow, somewhere I managed to catch Covid 19 in March. Trust me, you do not want it! I'm one of the lucky one's, I dodged the bullet. Just. Pre Covid, cycling 40 miles would be a doddle, something to do before breakfast. But not now. I've been on my bike twice in the last nine months, cycling less than 20 miles on both occasions. The experience left me so exhausted that I was in bed by 8.00 and slept for 12 hours. So 40 miles is a big ask, but an achievable target nonetheless. And the cause is a great one too, and will be worth all the effort. Thank you for your support. Chris W ShareThank you to my Sponsors
