SleepOut 2024

So far, my fundraising for the SleepOut 2024 could provide a safe space for a young person to sleep for:

0

Days

0

Months

On Thursday 7 March, I am taking part in the LandAid SleepOut to raise money to help support young people who are homeless.

In 2022/2023, nearly 136,000 young people approached their council as they were homeless or at risk of homelessness.

The cost of living crisis has had an immense effect on all of us. This has been felt even more acutely by young people facing homelessness. Reports from the charities that LandAid support have mentioned that they're facing not only a homelessness crisis, but a mental health one too.

Young people facing homelessness need our support more than ever.

LandAid bring the property industry together to support charities delivering life-changing services for young people who are or have been homeless, or who are at risk of homelessness in the future.

Your donation will help ensure that young people are brought in from the cold this winter.

I'm incredibly grateful to have had a fortunate childhood and not everyone is afforded the same upbringing and security nets.

I would never choose to sleep on the streets and neither should any young person have to, so please help me in raising support to avoid it happening in the first place.

Sleeping out

Wednesday 13th Mar

Being outside for the night was a humbling experience - 3 degrees, the odd breeze, less than 5hrs of quiet. In the grand scheme of things I was in relative luxury with a semi-inflated air mat, cardboard over my head, security guarded sheltered stand.

And I nearly fell asleep at my desk twice on Friday. I was tired for two days, even after a night in my own bed, but I could hold it together and get back on track…

… so no one should have to do that day after day and what really strikes me is the difficulty one would face trying to get out of that situation. So while we’re all smiles in the photos, inside we knew how lucky we were.

I’m really heartened by the donations and the event as a whole, really positive projects with a local partner being granted funding for 6 self contained flats for young families, completion aimed for end of this year . Thanks for your support.

Thank you!

You all helped me reach m the minimum participation target of £205 within 3 days and I think we can do more. Huge thanks to all those who’ve donated - it really means a lot. So far £220 equates to approximated 40 days emergency provision. I’d love to reach 60 - 2 months - £330.

I’m not looking forward to going straight from work, sleeping out in the cold and going straight back to work but the donations so far have really boosted me and really make it feel more worthwhile!
