SleepOut 2024

So far, my fundraising for the SleepOut 2024 could provide a safe space for a young person to sleep for:

0

Days

0

Months

On Thursday 7 March, I am taking part in the LandAid SleepOut to raise money to help support young people who are homeless.

In 2022/2023, nearly 136,000 young people approached their council as they were homeless or at risk of homelessness.

The cost of living crisis has had an immense effect on all of us. This has been felt even more acutely by young people facing homelessness. Reports from the charities that LandAid support have mentioned that they're facing not only a homelessness crisis, but a mental health one too.

Young people facing homelessness need our support more than ever.

LandAid bring the property industry together to support charities delivering life-changing services for young people who are or have been homeless, or who are at risk of homelessness in the future.

Your donation will help ensure that young people are brought in from the cold this winter.

Why am I doing this?

It's a question I have asked myself since I agreed to do it.

No young person should experience homelessness. Nor should any young person have to worry about finding a safe place to sleep.  We all agree with that, yes?

But, that is a reality for many young people.  Yes, even in places like Cambridge.

Romsey Mill and Concrete Rose are alongside many young people who are most at risk of homelessness, or are already homeless, in Cambridge and the surrounding area.

My sleepout with LandAid will not be comparable with the experience of any young person who has nowhere safe to sleep.

I am doing it for one night only. I will be with friends. I will not be afraid. I will be fed in the morning. I know that I will be safe.

Why am I doing this?

In truth, because a friend asked me to do it. Simple as that.

But, I do hope to learn something about the threat and reality of homelessness for young people; and I invite you to partner with me to help prevent it becoming a reality for them.

If you are able to make a donation, that would be fantastic.

You would not be supporting me in anything that I have chosen to do; however, you will be helping to prevent the fear or experience of homelessness becoming a reality for young people who have no choice.

That is as good a reason as any to be doing something like this!

Thank you.

My Updates

Home again!

Friday 8th Mar
Home again! The significance of those words is not lost on me after my sleepout for LandAid to help raise awareness and funds for young people who are homeless. I had a poor night’s sleep, but it was just one night, and home is my refuge, my happy place, my safe place. That isn’t the case for 136,000 young people in this country who are homeless. Thank you to everyone who’s donated or sent encouraging messages. It’s really helped. If you would like to help, you can still make a donation. Thank you!!

Settling down!

I’ve pimped my crib and I’m hoping for some shut-eye! Once everyone stops complimenting me on my sense of style!
