Date:Thursday 10th March
Time:Arrive between 7.00pm - 8.00pm. Finishes by 9am
Surrey Quays Rd, London
Various across London
All funds raised at the London SleepOut will support various projects, just like YMCA Thames Gateway
YMCA Thames Gateway provides a range of supported accommodation to young people who are homeless. Each resident is given a primary and secondary support worker to help them develop their skills and confidence to live independently.
LandAid’s £75,000 grant is enabling the charity to deliver a modular construction housing scheme for young people. It will create thirty self-contained one bed flats for young people who are ready to live more independently and to enter employment.
To assist the young people with entering the employment market, the rents at the property will be roughly 65% of market rents and below the housing benefit local housing allowance. The young residents, who will have moved out from a fully supported hostel, can still access the support and facilities available at the hostel. A designated housing worker will support tenants, which includes the offer of counselling, budgeting and welfare advice.
How will you be making the event COVID secure?
Firstly, all of the venues are outside/open to the elements. As we know from the evidence so far, being outside is considerably safer than inside.
In addition, there will be plenty of space to social distance throughout the event.
Finally, we will be encouraging everyone to take a lateral flow test before attending the event.
About the evening
By attending the LandAid SleepOut you will gain a small insight into the conditions faced by thousands of young people across the UK every single night. During the event you will hear from the charities and young people that LandAid support.
The events will be open to the elements, so please do come prepared. Throughout the evening we will be serving hot drinks and snacks, but we do ask you to eat prior to coming. There will be a hot breakfast served in the morning.
