Why trek for LandAid?

Right now, thousands of young people across the UK are facing homelessness or living in unsafe, unstable housing. By taking part in the LandAid Trek, your fundraising will support projects that:

  • Provide safe accommodation for young people in crisis
  • Help young people build skills, confidence, and long‑term independence
  • Help prevent youth homelessness before it starts

Andy had been rough sleeping for six months. Thanks to LandAid funding, he is now off the streets, has a job and feels a sense of relief knowing he’s not alone.
Taking on the LandAid Trek will help create real, lasting change.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I take part as a team?

add remove

Yes absolutely! You can join or create a team when registering for the Eastbourne Trek and Trek Your Way. You’ll see that we have leaderboards for where you can compete as a team (and individually) against other organisations taking part in the Trek.

Is it a race?

add remove

No — the Eastbourne Trek is not a race. We aim to walk in a long convoy for as much of the day as possible, moving at a steady, comfortable pace. Walking together helps create a great team atmosphere and allows everyone to support one another along the way.

We encourage participants to stay with the main group wherever possible, as this helps with morale and ensures our experienced marshals and Outdoor First Aid–qualified Mountain Leaders can provide support throughout the route.

If you do choose to walk independently, please note that you may not be able to access the full support of our rolling marshal team.

For Trek Your Way, you’re welcome to add your own friendly competitions, challenges, or flair to make the experience your own.

Do I need to train?

add remove

For our 40km, we highly recommend dedicating 12 weeks to training. If you are already very fit and active, you may opt for the 10-week training plan.

For our 20km, we strongly suggest committing to 8 weeks of training. If you are in excellent shape and highly active, the 6-week training plan may be suitable.

See our training plans on our Route page here.
