SleepOut 2025

On Thursday 27 February 2025, I am taking part in the LandAid SleepOut to raise money to help support young people who don't have a place to call home.

In 2022/2023, nearly 136,000 young people approached their council as they were homeless or at risk of homelessness.

The cost of living crisis has had an immense effect on all of us. This has been felt even more acutely by young people facing homelessness. Reports from the charities that LandAid support have mentioned that they're facing not only a homelessness crisis, but a mental health one too.

Young people facing homelessness need our support more than ever.

LandAid bring the property industry together to support charities delivering life-changing services for young people who are or have been homeless, or who are at risk of homelessness in the future.

Your donation will help bring young people in from the cold this winter.

I'm taking part in the LandAid SleepOut 2025!

Last year LandAid #SleepOut2024 raised over £600,000 and proud to say Finley, Euan and I contributed. I have lost count of the number of times I have taken part - it's not easy but neither is being homeless!

Homelessness is NOT a lifestyle choice. Everyone deserves a safe place to call their home.

Youth homelessness is a pressing societal issue characterised by young individuals, often aged 16 to 24, experiencing housing instability or living on the streets. This vulnerable population faces numerous challenges, including limited access to education, healthcare, and employment opportunities.

Factors contributing to youth homelessness encompass family conflict, economic hardship, and mental health issues, often exacerbated by systemic failures in social support systems.

The consequences of youth homelessness extend beyond immediate housing concerns, impacting mental well-being and perpetuating cycles of poverty. Without stable housing, these young individuals are at a heightened risk.

So again in February 2024 me, Finley and Euan (and maybe a cuddly toy) will be wrapping up and venturing into the countryside to SleepOut.

I’m cold enough indoors with the heating on. Medals ‘as big as dustbin lids’ as my Dad would say, to you and your boys. Thoughts go out to all those rough sleepers who are mostly forgotten
